Coach Brown was a tough and courageous competitor. He expected excellence from his players, and he strived to turn them into champions. OSF HealthCare Cancer Institute brings that same tenacity to the fight against glioblastoma, which took Coach Brown’s life and currently has no cure. As part of our collaboration with the KBStrong Foundation, we’re keeping our promise to bring glioblastoma clinical trials to this area.
When Coach Brown first dreamt of his future, he saw himself as “Camping Kevin,” enjoying retirement at the small campground he’d purchased in Carlock, Illinois. Known for his determination and work ethic, Kevin was always one to set goals and tackle them with relentless passion. But when life threw him a different plan—one marked by a diagnosis of Glioblastoma—he faced this challenge with the same grit he’d shown on the basketball court. Today, in his honor, the fight he started lives on through the KBStrong Foundation and the Kevin Brown Memorial Tournament of Champions, bringing our community together in support of groundbreaking Glioblastoma research.
The KBStrong Foundation, in partnership with OSF Healthcare, is more than a tribute; it’s a movement. KBStrong’s unwavering determination has helped launch the Breakthrough Treatment Center at the OSF Cancer Institute, providing access to advanced therapies and clinical trials for those facing Glioblastoma and other challenging cancers. Thanks to these collective efforts, the Breakthrough Treatment Center has opened a new clinical trial for Glioblastoma, and continues pushing the frontiers of hope.
This is only the beginning. We won’t rest until we’ve won. Coach Brown would expect nothing less.
