BBO-11818 (ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT06917079) is a Phase 1a/1b open-label clinical trial evaluating an investigational oral pan-KRAS inhibitor. This targeted therapy is designed to block the KRAS protein in both its active and inactive states in patients with advanced KRAS mutant cancers, including certain types of lung, colorectal, and pancreatic cancers. The study is part of a multicenter research effort. At OSF HealthCare, the study is being led by Principal Investigator Jun Zhang, MD, PhD, with Clinical Research Coordinator Jennifer Dixon.
This study is testing a new kind of oral medicine for people with advanced cancers that have a KRAS mutation. KRAS is a gene that is often changed in certain lung, colorectal, and pancreatic cancers, making them harder to treat. The investigational drug is designed to block the KRAS protein in both its “on” and “off” states inside the cancer cells. Researchers are studying whether this approach is safe and if it can help slow down or control the cancer when other treatments are no longer working.
This study is meaningful for patients and our community because it explores a new targeted approach for difficult-to-treat cancers. Many patients with advanced KRAS mutant solid tumors have limited options, and early-phase research like this helps bring innovative therapies closer to those who need them most. Support for clinical trials through OSF HealthCare allows us to offer hope and advance care for future generations.
“At OSF HealthCare Cancer Institute, we are excited to participate in this important early-phase study, which brings a novel KRAS-targeted therapy to patients in our region who face advanced cancers with limited options,” said Jun Zhang, MD, PhD, Principal Investigator. “Clinical research remains one of the best ways we can offer eligible patients access to promising new approaches while advancing care for the future.”
The study includes evaluation of the investigational therapy, with all treatment approaches being studied for research purposes in accordance with the approved study protocol.
All clinical research conducted at OSF HealthCare undergoes rigorous review and ongoing oversight to help ensure patient safety and ethical conduct.
