3D rendering of an Antibody-Drug Conjugate (ADC) mechanism

ZL-1310 (ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT06885281) is a Phase 1b/2 open-label, multi-center clinical trial evaluating an investigational DLL3-directed antibody-drug conjugate (ADC). This targeted therapy is designed to deliver treatment directly to cancer cells expressing the DLL3 protein, which is found on certain neuroendocrine tumors. At OSF HealthCare, the study is being led by Principal Investigator Robert McWilliams, MD, PhD, with Clinical Research Coordinator Peyton Swearingen. The trial focuses on neuroendocrine carcinomas originating from the gastrointestinal tract, pancreas, gallbladder, hepatobiliary system (GEP-NEC), urinary bladder, or cervix/uterine (GU-NEC), as well as large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma of the lung (LCNEC-L).

This study is testing a new kind of targeted medicine for people with advanced neuroendocrine cancers. These cancers can start in the gut, pancreas, gallbladder, liver area, bladder, cervix/uterus, or lungs. The investigational drug is designed to find and attack cancer cells that have a specific protein called DLL3 on their surface. Researchers want to see if this treatment is safe and if it can help slow down or shrink the cancer when other treatments are no longer working.

This study is meaningful for patients and our community because it explores a new targeted approach for difficult-to-treat neuroendocrine cancers. Many patients with advanced disease have limited options, and early-phase research like this helps bring innovative therapies closer to those who need them most. Support for clinical trials through OSF HealthCare allows us to offer hope and advance care for future generations.

“OSF HealthCare is committed to expanding access to cutting-edge early-phase trials like this one, bringing innovative targeted therapies to patients in our region,” said Robert McWilliams, MD, PhD, “Participation in clinical research gives eligible patients the opportunity to explore new potential treatment options close to home.”

The study includes evaluation of the investigational therapy, with all treatment approaches being studied for research purposes in accordance with the approved study protocol.

All clinical research conducted at OSF HealthCare undergoes rigorous review and ongoing oversight to help ensure patient safety and ethical conduct.
